Lakewood PTA Volunteer Opportunities

*Artist in Residence

Performed by a fourth grade parent. Coordinates fourth grade art project to be installed in the school during following fifth grade year

*Book Fair

Coordinates with Scholastic, sets up, breaks down, and runs Scholastic Book fair in fall, does financials for money made during fair. (October-1 week Columbus Day week commitment)

*Books and Bagels

Coordinates this before school program where parents come with their child, eat bagels, and read books together. (Spring commitment) br>

*Book Drive

Done in same day with Book and Bagels, students bring gently used (Done on B&B day) books to give to a shelter. (Spring commitment)

*Box tops

Encourage, coordinate, collect, and tally year-round Box Tops for Education drive, coordinates with Directory Service to ensure grocery cards are up-to-date and re-linked annually. (All year)

*Columbus Day

Provides and serves refreshments for Columbus Day Open House. Open House (1 day commitment)

*Eagle Blast

Sends out information to parents about upcoming event and Coordinator important reminders via email. (All year commitment)

*End- of- year picnic

Coordinates an End -of- year picnic for all grades, games (May or June commitment)

*Fall festival

Coordinates and runs festival one evening in the fall with games, food, carnival rides, publicizes fair to parents, coordinates event with Talk of the Town. (Fall commitment)

*Fall festival volunteer

Aids the Fall Festival chair by finding Lakewood parent and Coordinator Frost/Wootton volunteers to work Fall Festival. (Fall commitment)

*Fifth Grade Ceremonies

Performed by a fourth grade parent. Provides and serves refreshments and balloons for fifth grade promotion ceremony. (1 day commitment)

*Fifth Grade DVD

Performed by a fifth grade parent. Coordinates pictures throughout the school year and designs DVD to be shown at fifth grade promotion ceremony and purchased by fifth graders. (All year commitment)

Fun Run Boosterthon

Fundraising program that incorporates fitness, leadership, and builds character, teaches fitness if fun, in participation with Fun Run Boosterthon. (25-35 hour commitment)

*ICB Coordinator

Coordinates rooms for after school activities, requires short training course, brief paperwork as requests arise. (Beginning of school yr commitment)

*International Night

Coordinates program where Lakewood families bring a dish representing countries around the world to share at this evening event.

*Lakewood Logo Wear coordinator

Coordinates logo wear to sell at Back-To-School Night and events throughout school year. (Few times year commitment)

*Lunar New Year

Coordinates a lunch for staff on behalf of the Lunar New Year, a staff favorite. (Small commitment)

*Movie Night

Coordinates an evening when Lakewood families have dinner, movie concessions, and watch a movie. (small commitment)

*Photo Parent:

Takes photos of classroom parties and activities throughout the year, uploads photos to share with yearbook chair, attends classroom parties to take photos of event. (All year commitment)

*Pizza Bingo night

Coordinates an evening when Lakewood families have a pizza dinner and play bingo.(small commitment)

*Room Parent:

Collects class money, plan and organizes Halloween and Valentine class parties, assists the Staff Appreciation chairperson with events in your classroom-May, 4th grade room parents organize refreshments table at 5th grade ceremony. (All year commitment)

*Science fair/STEM

Coordinates students who create science projects and display their projects in the form of a report, display board, and models that they have created at an evening fair, sends out information to parents about event. (small commitment)

*Shooting Stars

Shooting Stars is a popular and fun basketball event featuring the Basketball 4th And 5th grade students. The event chairs work together to manage registration, coordinate give-aways, food and prizes.

*Staff Appreciation

Coordinate and publicize Staff Appreciation Week in the spring; coordinate and facilitate staff lunch. (Spring time commitment)

*Teacher Appreciation

Coordinates special events throughout the year to honor teachers and staff for example a holiday cookie exchange and Staff Appreciation Week. (Few times a year commitment.)


Takes photos throughout year, creates a yearbook, prints, and publicizes to parents, sells yearbooks via form. Gathers pictures throughout the year and works with Classic Photography to design and order yearbooks. (All year commitment)
